The Beginning

Mountain View Church began as a Bible Fellowship in the Lafayette and Louisville areas of Northern Colorado in February 1974. In the developmental stage the church met in member's homes. By April 1974, a church-type mission was started with seventeen present for Sunday school. The meeting was held in the recreation center of a mobile home park in Lafayette.

Many times members had to move the pool table and clear out beer cans before services could start. Teachers were sandwiched between the washer and dryer in the laundry room where classes for small children were held.

A New Location

Land was purchased at 10824 South Boulder Road (700 West South Boulder Road) in Lafayette with a groundbreaking ceremony held in November 1976. Construction began with the basement in April 1977, and by July 4th the Builders for Christ arrived to help in the construction of the church. Dedication services were held April 2, 1978, with 117 persons in attendance for morning worship.  The mission was constituted as a church September 9, 1979, with 130 persons present.

A New Building

During the construction of our new building, we used a little newsletter called Plumb Line to track our progress and goals and keep the membership informed. All these newsletters have been converted to PDF format and provided for you here in the Plumb Line ArchiveA beautiful new sanctuary was completed and celebrated with a dedication in March of 1998.

For our 25th anniversary celebration, we distributed a commemorative booklet entitled The Mountain View Story 1974-1999There have been four pastors in the church's history.  Like many churches in the pioneer west, Mountain View has had successes and setbacks, dramatic victories and stinging disappointments. As a new century dawns we look back with the memories of God’s care and provision knowing that the one who has been faithful to guide His people, will continue to do so. Lead on O King Eternal!

Our Mission

Mountain View's mission statement is "To honor Jesus Christ by taking His message to as many people as possible, and training all who believe to serve others." We seek to support that mission statement in all of our ministries. Mountain View is a faithful financial supporter of missions, both local and foreign. There is an active youth ministry, parenting ministry, children's ministry, men's ministry and women's ministry at Mountain View just to name a few. Our desire is to honor our Lord with every ministry until He returns.
